General Summary
The General Buildings Site Inspector is responsible for overseeing and coordinating construction projects from start to finish, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards. This role involves conducting inspections, testing equipment, documenting findings, and coordinating with project architects, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure high-quality and safe facilities and buildings infrastructure and construction. This role requires a high degree of safety practices and principles onsite assuring labor, equipment and installation efforts are in compliance. The position will be onsite at PHL Airport working in compliance with the client’s policies and procedures and state statutes.
Responsibilities:
The key duties and responsibilities of a Buildings Site Inspector include:
1. Inspection & Compliance:
- Conduct inspections of all building components such as architecture, structure and systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, fueling systems, and baggage handling systems at airport facilities.
- Ensure installations comply with project specifications, airport authority regulations and local building codes.
- Verify that all work aligns with approved drawings and design documents.
2. Testing & Commissioning:
- Oversee and participate in the testing, commissioning, and startup of building systems.
- Identify any discrepancies or defects and coordinate necessary corrective actions.
3. Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, non-conformance reports, and corrective actions.
- Prepare and submit daily reports, punch lists, and final inspection documentation.
- Assist in preparing technical reports and recommendations for project stakeholders.
4. Coordination & Communication:
- Work closely with project managers, contractors, and design teams to resolve issues.
- Attend progress meetings and provide updates on inspection findings.
- Ensure that work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and airport operational requirements.
5. Safety & Quality Assurance:
- Monitor compliance with workplace safety regulations and environmental policies.
- Ensure proper installation and maintenance of mechanical systems for optimal airport functionality and passenger safety.
- Recommend improvements to enhance system efficiency and sustainability.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 5 + years of experience in large buildings construction environment, preferably in airport projects or large-scale infrastructure.
- Certifications: OSHA 10 preferred.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of building components and systems.
- Skills: Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, strong communication, and technical report writing.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with AutoCAD, BIM, or inspection-related software is a plus.
