  • Install, service and repair mechanical fixtures, structures and other mechanical devices and systems
  • This position has mechanical maintenance responsibilities in all areas of the building

Purpose (Sum up the position using one or two sentences)

  • Repair and maintain mechanical equipment that supports plant operations

Areas of responsibility (Use active verbs to define areas of responsibility and especially the weight of each responsibility : “Manage”, “Support”, “Participate”; “Is responsible for”, “Is in charge of”, “Promote”, “Contribute” etc.)

  • Responsible for the maintenance of all plant and office mechanical systems
  • Responsible for the installation and support of all capital projects as deemed necessary
  • Support other Plant Engineering department activities
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, and blueprints to determine layout of plant equipment
  • Install and test mechanical components related to plant equipment and machinery
  • Perform general, routine plumbing repairs
  • Conduct scheduled maintenance activities and keep maintenance records
  • Maintain both low pressure (125 PSI) and high pressure (250 PSI) boilers as sole operator on an off-shift rotation
  • Adheres to all Nexans AmerCable’s Safety Standards and Safe Work Practices
  • Follows and abides by Nexans Code of Ethics and Business Conduct Standards

  • Ensure that all building mechanical equipment and components are working in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of preventive maintenance.

Required skills and qualifications (Management and function competencies regarding available Nexans models, personal attributes, education, experience)

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must have two (2) years’ experience in industrial maintenance
  • Must be able to use tools for the mechanical installation and/or repair of plant equipment and building systems
  • Must be proficient in TIG, MIG and ARC welding
  • Must have common knowledge of industrial electrical systems
  • Must be able to obtain state boiler license
  • Ability to effectively communicate with other employees, both verbally and in writing
  • Good reading comprehension
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed, including weekends and holidays
  • Must be able to work in a non-climate controlled environment
  • Required to work at heights above ground level
  • Must be able to operate a forklift
  • Must be able to physically move material, possibly up to 50lbs
  • Must be able to work in small and tight spaces
