Job Description
Under the direction of the Tax Supervisor and Manager, this position supports federal, state, and local tax compliance across all World Kinect entities. Responsibilities include managing payments for all related liabilities and maintaining tax-related records.
Specific Duties:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual fuel excise and sales & use tax returns.
- Reconcile tax liability accounts.
- Maintain tax exemption and tax determination content.
- Conduct tax research to ensure compliance with state filing requirements.
- Utilize Avalara software for EDI reporting to various jurisdictions.
- Maintain detailed communication regarding tax notices received.
- Address motor vehicle tax and sales tax inquiries by researching and interpreting state communications.
- Ensure compliance requirements for internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist in resolving state audits for indirect motor fuel tax and sales tax.
- Mentor entry-level accountants in tax law research and applicability.
- Support the implementation of process improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Accounting or Finance from a four-year college or university, or 5 years of experience in tax systems and fuel excise tax filings.
- Effective communicator with the ability to work with internal customers and outside taxing authorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interpret motor fuel tax law and explain scenarios to state jurisdictions.
- Five years of Sales and Use Tax reporting experience.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel, including lookups, pivots, and formulas.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work well under filing deadlines.
- Adaptable to growth and changing business environments.
Preferred Skills:
- Five or more years of Fuel Excise tax experience.
- Experience with PDI, Oracle, and Avalara software.
