Founded in 1996, Food Access LA is a leading Southern California nonprofit organization, connecting people to healthy food, promoting economic development, and building sustainable food systems. We operate the largest network of mission-driven farmers’ markets in Los Angeles as well as programs that provide nutrition education, food access, and opportunities for small regional farms and local food businesses to thrive.   

Our programs include:   

  • Certified Farmers’ Markets: Operating a network of 9 community-based farmers’ markets in Los Angeles.    

  • Benefits & Incentives: Improving access to fresh, healthy foods by way of CalFresh EBT, the WIC program and Market Match. 

  • Nutrition Programs: Providing extensive nutrition and culinary education to low-income families, youth, and adults at our farmers’ markets, as well as community partner sites and schools. 

  • eat! Food Distribution: The eat! Program at Food Access LA is our food distribution initiative, supporting both small farmers and communities surrounding our farmers' market locations by aggregating, coordinating, and delivering produce boxes. 

About Our Eat! Food Distribution Program 

The eat! Program at Food Access LA is our food distribution initiative, supporting both small farmers and communities surrounding our farmers market locations. Through eat!, and in partnership with community organizations and food banks that have direct relationships with families in need, we distribute food boxes filled with fresh, locally grown produce across LA county. 

eat! also operates a seasonal CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program for market shoppers interested in receiving weekly produce deliveries.  As part of our continued growth, we are also piloting a wholesale delivery program serving restaurants, schools, and community partners. 

Job Description

TITLE: 

PT Eat! Program Coordinator 

STATUS: 

Non-Exempt; Part-time (8-16 hours per week) 

COMPENSATION: 

Starting at $25/hour 

LOCATION:  

Hybrid – Mostly working on-site at Farmers’ Markets (South LA and East LA locations) but option to work remotely for admin work 

REPORTS TO: 

Director, eat! Food Distribution 

 

Role Overview 

As our PT Eat! Program Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting all aspects of our food distribution efforts. This is a dynamic position that requires adaptability and responsiveness as the program evolves, providing great growth opportunities for an individual passionate about food systems. You will work closely with the Director of the eat! Food Distribution Program, with responsibilities including: 

  • Assist in coordinating bulk produce deliveries to community locations, working closely with the Program Director to communicate with farmers and community partners.  

  • Support invoicing, Excel-based tracking, and other administrative and organizational tasks.  

  • Manage CSA member communications, including creating a weekly newsletter, responding to member emails, and coordinating with farmers to curate weekly produce selections.  

  • Work on-site at farmers markets up to three times per week to pack orders and distribute them to CSA members, pickup sites, and wholesale partners (including restaurants, schools, and community organizations).  

  • Drive our company 12-passenenger Mercedes Sprinter van with professional care to make deliveries for our CSA program, wholesale deliveries, and other program related activities. 

  • Occasionally attend farm visits, community partner site visits, and related events.

Qualifications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bilingual English/ Spanish, written and verbal; 

  • Experience driving a 12-passenenger van 

  • Demonstrated progressive leadership capabilities; 

  • Reliable, self-driven, and able to follow clear directives with minimal supervision; 

  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively; 

  • Proactive problem-solving skills; 

  • Comfortable working collaboratively in a team setting and independently
