About the Role
The Software Manager leads the software development team through various product development cycles delivering innovative and cost-effective solutions to our customers. The Manager has responsibility for both people management (development, coaching) and project execution for those projects in his/her domain.
Your Responsibilities
- As appropriate to specific role, acts as primary interface for all escalated technical issues related to software.
- Ensures that programs are properly resourced (both quality and quantity) for success, whether through assignment of direct resources, or leverage of external resources as required.
- Provides team leadership, management support, including coaching and active engagement with direct and extended team.
- Provides technical leadership in directing the efforts of software module teams in the development and release of all relevant Software deliverables in compliance with the product development process and/or customer expectations.
- Ensures engineering timing plans, defect / issues lists, risk assessments, lessons learned are created and maintained.
- Support engineering quote response related to SW team effort, material, capital, tooling, etc. for new programs and customer changes after award of business
- Directly manage Team Leads, and engineers in the implementation of project objectives and overall activities.
- Responsibilities include, interviewing, hiring, training, reward and disciplinary actions, and performance appraisals of employees.
- Leads continuous improvement efforts for products, processes and programs.
- Ensures compliance to Company procedures (e.g. Process - Work Instructions) and applicable standards (e.g. ISO/TS 16949, ISO/IEC TR 15504).
Who we are looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Masters degree preferred.
- Management/leadership training is an asset
- 15 years of relevant experience in the software engineering and in team management coaching
Your preferred qualifications
Manager Role:
• First level of formal supervisory responsibility with both functional and disciplinary authority.
• Responsibility and ownership of all software development activities for assigned products within product line family
Specialist Knowledge
• Comprehensive knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices using Agile frameworks and planning/execution skills including estimating and scheduling.
Methodological Knowledge
• Comprehensive working knowledge in structured engineering approach
• Comprehensive working knowledge of structured problem solving (8D)
• Comprehensive working knowledge of configuration management, project planning, monitoring and control techniques
