The team provides the organization with in-depth analytical support in evaluating existing operations and new business opportunities. They help lead and advise cross-functional project teams in executing the many action items and special projects that have been designed to help NYRR continue to reach its strategic objectives.   About the Internship The New York Road Runners Internship program is a paid, 21-week experience in which interns have the opportunity to learn from the best in the non-profit business. Interns will work collaboratively with professionals in their field of study and will have opportunities to network across the organization. The program will include professional development events and a chance to make a direct impact on the communities in New York City by working select events. Interns will receive onboarding and training to learn about NYRR and gain the knowledge needed to best perform in their role. Internship dates will be Monday, June 15, 2026 to Friday, November 13, 2026. The Strategy, Planning and Analytics Intern will report to the Head of Strategy and will assist the team in their day-to-day responsibilities leading organizational and product strategy, evaluation and analytics, strategic operations, cross-functional project management, and membership; designed to help NYRR reach its strategic objectives.   Intern Responsibilities (primary and secondary duties):
  • Strategy:
    • Assist in the development of program, product, event, and/or pricing strategy creation 
    • Conduct research and analysis on key trends impacting the running, non-profit and sports industries    
  • Planning and Project Management:
    • Support the planning of major marquee events (including the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon) and key organizational cross-functional initiatives (including 2026 Race Calendar Planning, Inclusivity & Accessibility Enhancements).
    • Work collaboratively with the SPA team and internal stakeholders to collect organize and present data and insights, maintain project workplans and monitor project progress and risks.
    • Use various project management and evaluation tools in all aspects of a project lifecycle.
  • Evaluation and Analysis:
    • Support the collection and analysis of participant insights from our weekly races and other organizational initiatives as required (including our community impact programs).
    • Assist with the analysis of qualitative and quantitative information from various sources (external and internal) quickly and succinctly to inform key organizational initiatives and strategies.
