Senior Mechanical Engineer, Monuments

<div class="content-intro"><p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p></div><p><strong><u>Summary</u></strong></p> <p>Creates complex design of VIP aircraft monuments, and mechanisms to meet customer criteria, quality standards, FAA requirements, budget and project schedules using Computer Aided Drafting/Design tools.</p> <p><strong><u>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Designs complex monuments such as cabinets, bulkheads, vanities, lavatories, tables, divans, and other payload items.</li> <li>Designs complex mechanisms for tables, doors, drawers, divans and other moving features.</li> <li>Analyzes and interprets subsystem and project specifications.</li> <li>Selects materials for mechanical designs based on structural needs and materials specifications. Evaluates trade-offs in materials, hardness, composites, treatments, coatings, and other selections to best meet design objectives. Works with materials suppliers and material testing when needed.</li> <li>Applies experience and knowledge and works with Manufacturing Engineers to optimize designs for reduced parts counts, reduced manufacturing costs, reduced assembly error, and other factors affecting production cost and quality.</li> <li>Understands Bills of Materials, assembly concepts, fabrication specifications.</li> <li>Ensures designs meet customer criteria, quality standards and FAA requirements.</li> <li>Adheres to budget and project schedules.</li> <li>Provides design guidance and feedback to other engineering personnel.</li> <li>Maintains state-of-the-art knowledge in mechanical design practices, materials, components, and software design tools.
