General Summary

This position is responsible for program management of one or more corporate benefit plans and/or programs. This position includes analyzing, monitoring and administering the associated processes to ensure compliance with legal mandates and the plan document(s). In addition, is responsible for developing a desirable and well communicated benefits program.

Essential Job Accountabilities

  • Responsible for general plan administration in accordance with the plan provisions and eligibility requirements to ensure compliance with plan guidelines and any associated legal requirements

  • Maintain all internal key controls necessary for support of the Company’s internal and audit processes, to ensure accuracy and compliance of benefits related payroll interfaces 

  • Manage external key controls by coordinating, managing and monitoring the timely and accurate transmission of benefit data to third party administrators and/or record keepers to ensure employee information is successfully transferred 

  • Pay premiums, contributions or other plan expenses in a timely manner to ensure Company obligations are met 

  • Provide leadership during audits of internal information and processes to ensure timely delivery of all requested documentation to auditors

  • Serve as a liaison between Company and outside vendor(s) administering plans.  Conduct periodic meetings, monitor work product, (such as reporting), compliance and timely completion of milestones

  • Maintain communication with internal Human Resources representatives, employees, and other functional areas, and with government bodies, to promote clear communications and the flow of timely information 

  • Provide customer service, counsel and education to participants regarding the Company’s benefit programs in a manner consistent with plan guidelines, plan documents and Company policies

  • Make recommendations, related to process and/or procedural improvements (system upgrades, process efficiencies, etc.), in a manner compliant with Plan provisions, regulatory guidelines and legal mandates.  These improvements include best practices, administrative improvements, automation, cost reduction and compliance considerations


Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

Work Experience

  • 6+ years of Benefits or Human Resources experience or related field. 

  • Experience developing, maintaining and communicating policies

  • Certification in one or more related field(s) of study 

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Knowledge of Federal, State regulations regarding applicable laws and those that impact the administration of Benefit policies.

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, along with HRIS products and mainframe software

  • Ability to work with and maintain confidential information

  • Attention to detail, superior organizational skill, excellent follow through, quick learner and internally motivated to seek out answers, generate ideas, and develop new skills.

  • Ability to work in a high production environment and respond quickly and effectively under pressure, changing priorities and tight timelines/deadlines

  • Strong written and oral communication skills to effectively disseminate information

  • Team player who can operate effectively within a matrix management environment
