About the Opportunity
The Northeastern University Enrollment Research & Analytics team provides timely data analytics that informs and helps guide strategic decision-making across the entirety of the student lifecycle, from recruitment and enrollment to persistence and graduation. Such analysis contributes to student recruitment, admissions, reporting, financial aid leveraging, predictive yield modeling, enrollment forecasting, and retention research. Reporting to the Director of Enrollment Analytics, the Assistant Director of Enrollment Analytics will support Enrollment Management by providing data and analysis to inform strategic and tactical decisions.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Requires at least 2-4 years of demonstrated data analysis, documentation, and reporting proficiency, with experience in admissions or enrollment management a major plus
- Advanced practical experience with BI and data analysis software (Tableau, SPSS, Alteryx, Hyperion, Excel, etc.) required.
- Strong technical and interpersonal skills and the ability to think critically and analytically, work independently, and handle multiple tasks are essential.
- Demonstrated understanding of various data structures and standard data extraction and transformation methods.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data, recognize patterns and provide informed decision-making recommendations.
- Ability to summarize and present analytical work and findings in ways accessible to non-technical audiences required.
- Creative problem-solving, superb attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and activities required
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Understanding/familiarity with higher education and enrollment management a plus
- Experience with predictive modeling a plus.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
In collaboration with the Director, this position will assume responsibility for reporting, research, and modelling around student behavior, including but not limited to development of models to predict admitted students’ likelihood to enroll, deposited students’ likelihood to melt, and support of strategic initiatives aid in student selection, yield, and enrollment.
This position will leverage data management, analysis, and visualization skills to develop and standardize meaningful, user-friendly reports and dashboards for monitoring internal measures of operational performance.
This position will contribute to the management of the unit’s undergraduate Tableau Server environment through:
- The development and maintenance of reports and dashboards related to admissions selection, engagement, and enrollment.
- Maintaining Tableau Server access, data security, user roles and permissions for stakeholders of relevant reporting
- Providing consultation and support to end users on the use of the platform, soliciting and incorporating feedback on potential enhancements, and promoting data literacy among users
- Overseeing the overall structure of the reporting environment regarding its organization and consistency across reports
This position will build queries to extract and aggregate data from various sources, including student database and CRM systems, other University offices, the University data warehouse, as well as external agencies and institutions, monitor and clean large data sets to ensure reporting efficiency and accuracy, collaborate with internal partners to identify, investigate, and resolve data quality issues, provide support and guidance in the areas of data analysis and reporting to data users across the university, and analyze quantitative data involving student recruitment and admissions, especially as pertaining to selection and yield patterns admitted student population. Discover and communicate significant patterns, trends, and stories with enrollment data; provide recommendations based on analysis.
The individual in this position must understand the uses of student information within the university and work to enhance the quality and utility of the data produced from various systems. Strong technical and interpersonal skills are essential, as well as the ability to think critically and analytically, work independently and handle multiple tasks. The ability to distill and convey findings clearly is a critical component of the work.
