ANNUAL SALARY: $40,000 TO $45,000
HOME LOCATION: EAST CHICAGO, INDIANA
TRAVEL TO GARY AND CROWN POINT MAY BE REQUIRED AS NEEDED
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage a caseload of students
- Provide personal and professional advice for students on their studies and career paths
- Attend weekly department meetings to review weekly enrollment and retention reports
- Assist in determining weekly strategy for retention increases
- Research and determine ways to implement strategies from academic institutions that are performing well in their retention and enrollment efforts
- Coordinate and maintain the completion of the student academic degree plans
- Communicate routinely with the students to assess needs and available resources
- Serve as a general resource in answering students' questions
- Assist in identifying students' needs and refer them to appropriate program / services within the college campus (e.g. Disability Support Services) or external services (e.g. Wrap Around Services Resource)
- Provide basic information to students to assist in the completion of related necessary forms and step-by-step procedures
- Assist in problem solving and student advocacy
- Assist in scheduling appointments and preparing correspondence
- Use appropriate forms and tools utilized by the College
- Maintain and update student records (i.e. paper files and /or database files, scanning documents); Utilizing the student data system as appropriate to the task

Education, Experience And Other Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, counseling, social work, or related fields
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Respond quickly to requests for information from supervisors and students Receptive to team work with the campus and academic unit
- Experience working with and being committed to diverse communication Proficiency with computers, software and data packages including Word, Excel, and Outlook
