This position patrols and monitors parking lots, garages, and streets to ensure compliance with the rules and regulations of the Department of Parking and Transportation. The incumbent engages in communication with drivers, issues citations for parking violations, and is responsible for vehicle immobilization, when warranted. A current standard driver's license is required as the incumbent will be operating department vehicles equipped with various enforcement technologies. Incumbent will be trained and required to operate small cell-phone like devices running relevant software applications as part of their duties.
This position is for 4 days, 10 hour shifts per week. Currently shifts are 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. (with a 1hr lunch) during normal Fall/Spring operations. During Summer and break weeks, position will be 5 days, 8 hour shifts per week. Work days are Monday through Thursday, unless otherwise instructed.
Examples of Work Performed
- Enforces University parking regulations and traffic laws; interprets and explains parking regulations and traffic laws to the public and ensures consistent enforcement.
- Issues citations for parking violations, such as parking in no-parking zones, expired meters and other types of illegal parking.
- Provides parking enforcement in a designated campus patrol area; inspects for matching parking decals and hang tags to designated parking areas.
- Immobilizes vehicles, employing necessary equipment; directs towing of vehicles as required.
- Prepares traffic cases for the Student Board of Traffic Appeals and the Faculty/Staff Board of Traffic Appeals, defines circumstances surrounding citations, and explains parking regulations in reports for board members as required.
- May assist with parking lot maintenance (painting, power washing), special event ADA shuttles and parking enforcement (Commencement, Football Game Day).
- Engages in communication with drivers to provide information and guidance.
- Utilizes positive communication techniques when interacting with the public.
- Assist customers in finding parking lot locations and providing other needed information.
- Performs similar or related duties as assigned.

3. Advises on enforcement of parking rules and regulations.
Minimum Education/Experience
Education: High School or Equivalent
Experience: (2) Two Years Experience
Licensure: Must have a valid driver’s license.
Substitution Statement: An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered for this role. Substitutions of the required experience or education will be assessed on a 1:1 substitution basis.
