Due to an internal promotion we are looking to add an ABD/OBGYN/Vascular Certified Sonographer to our team!

You would be part of a team of approximately 6 faculty members at our St Luke's School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. You would be training approximately 40 students that focuses on general and vascular didactic and clinical sonography with the Aurora System. Our school is open Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm. This position does not include weekends, holidays or call.

Pay Range

$43.30 - $64.95

Major Responsibilities:

  • Maintains familiarity with program goals including clinical education, evaluation of students, reporting progress, and for the periodic review and updating of course material.
  • Prepares and conducts classroom instruction for assigned courses within the School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
  • Conducts clinical demonstration sessions in correlation with previously presented classroom instruction and observes students performance of techniques.
  • Works with the clinical coordinator in maintaining a regular schedule for visiting clinical affiliates.
  • Observes, evaluates, and records performance of students during site visits; renders supplementary clinical training as required.
  • Provides input to program supervisor for student evaluations in both didactic and clinical areas of the program.
  • Assists program supervisor in the interview and selection of students for the School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
  • Assists program supervisor in other aspects of the sonography program as assigned.
  • Communicates areas of improvement for students and assists in formulating corrective measures.


Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with Abdomen issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS), or
  • Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with OB/GYN issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS), and
  • Vascular Technologist (RVT) registration issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), and
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.


Education Required:

  • Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Sonography.


Experience Required:

  • Typically requires 2 years of experience in a general, cardiac and/or vascular sonographer position.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Attends meetings and seminars, keeps abreast of clinical instructor techniques.
  • Maintains superior scanning skills and is current in all aspects of clinical knowledge.
  • Proficient in teaching methodology, supervision, instruction, evaluation and guidance.
  • Strong self-direction and motivation.
  • Ability to compile and assess statistical data.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written) with diverse groups.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
  • Must be able to:
  • lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
  • lift up to 20 lbs. over the head.
  • carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
  • Must be able to:
  • push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
  • perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
  • Must be able to stand 50 percent of the workday.
  • Must be able to frequently push or pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Must have clear speech, hearing, and vision.
  • Will be exposed to mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards.
  • Must wear protective clothing (i.e., lead aprons, isolation gowns, protective eyewear, etc.) as needed.
