Engineering Director

Location: Cambridge Binney Street

Job Purpose

To lead and develop the engineering team to ensure suitable skills and resources are available to deliver an effective and compliant engineering organization. The role will be accountable for all engineering activities and must ensure, capital plans are in place to meet the short, medium and long term needs of the business, as well as cost effective Maintenance strategies to deliver safe and reliable plant. The person in this role will also be an advocate of continuous improvement and other GPS principles and will promote this throughout the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for local delivery of all engineering, automation, validation, commissioning and qualification services at the site, ensuring cost, quality and compliance targets are achieved by key contract partners.
• Implement strategies, policies, standards, and guidelines at the site level.
• Ensure that risks associated with Quality Compliance at a site are identified and appropriately managed and/or mitigated.
• To provide direction and leadership for the maintenance of site equipment to high reliability standard meeting the regulatory expectations
• Uphold and ensure compliance with internal GSK policies, standards, procedures, and relevant external regulatory requirements with respect to Quality, Statutory and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) requirements.
• Ensure that the Engineering function and activity is a safe place to always work and ‘inspection ready’.
• Act as key GSK contact with external community, government, or other agencies at a regional, site or local level.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering
• 10 + years experience with management of risks and risk assessment techniques
• 5 + years experience leading and influencing matrix teams cross functionally
• Experience in an GMP Operations or Engineering leadership role with broad understanding of all engineering disciplines as they apply to managing high severity risks
• Project management skills

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: ​

• Experience desirable in process measurement technology, automation/control systems, and validation lifecycle.
