About the role

Overview

The Supply Chain Program Manager (SCPM) is an execution-focused individual contributor role responsible for coordinating the sourcing, production, and delivery of complex assemblies and components across internal factories and third-party suppliers. This role serves as the central point of coordination to ensure commitments to customers are met with respect to delivery, cost, quality, and responsiveness.

Ā

The SCPM works in close partnership with Sales, Project & Program Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality to translate customer demand and program requirements into executable supply chain plans. This role owns day-to-day execution, issue resolution, and cross-functional communication for assigned programs, ensuring alignment across factories and suppliers while proactively managing risk.

Responsibilities

Program Execution & Ownership

  • Own end-to-end supply chain execution for assigned customer programs, products, or projects from order receipt through delivery. Most typically for optical and optomechanical assemblies, but also on other high impact projects.
  • Serve as the primary supply chain point of contact for Sales and Project & Program Management on schedule, feasibility, constraints, and delivery commitments.
  • Coordinate cross-functional execution plans to support customer requirements, including timelines, priorities, and escalation paths.
  • Proactively identify execution risks (capacity, material availability, supplier constraints) and drive mitigation actions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Sales to support quoting, source selection, lead-time commitments, order prioritization, and customer communication.
  • Work with Project & Program Management teams to align supply chain execution with overall program schedules and milestones.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering, Proposal Development, and Manufacturing teams to ensure manufacturability, routing clarity, and production readiness.
  • Act as a customer advocate within the supply chain, balancing service, cost, and operational realities.

Supplier & Factory Coordination

  • Coordinate production and material flow across internal factories and third-party suppliers to meet project/program requirements.
  • Serve as the primary coordination interface with assigned suppliers, managing schedules, priorities, and delivery performance.
  • Support supplier selection and onboarding activities in partnership with Strategic Sourcing and Quality.
    • Requires the ability to read prints for optical and mechanical components and understand key technical specifications that will add risk or manufacturing complexity.
  • Drive timely resolution of supplier or factory issues impacting delivery, quality, or cost.

Scheduling, Expediting & Issue Resolution

  • Monitor production status, supplier deliveries, and factory loading to ensure on-time execution.
  • Lead expediting efforts for critical orders, shortages, or customer-driven priority changes.
  • Coordinate root-cause analysis and corrective actions for late, incomplete, or non-conforming deliveries.
  • Escalate risks and issues as appropriate with clear data, options, and recommendations.

Planning, Forecasting & Capacity Alignment

  • Translate customer demand, forecasts, and project plans into executable supply chain requirements.
  • Partner with factories and suppliers to assess capacity, lead times, and constraints.
  • Support S&OP, project reviews, and program checkpoints by providing accurate supply chain status and outlook.
  • Maintain accurate supply chain data to support planning, reporting, and execution.

Cost, Margin & Profitability Support

  • Support cost estimates, RFQs, and sourcing decisions in collaboration with Sales, Strategic Sourcing, and Finance.
  • Monitor program-level supply chain cost drivers and highlight risks to margin or profitability.
  • Assist with make-versus-buy analysis and execution planning as required.

Continuous Improvement & Governance

  • Identify opportunities to improve execution efficiency, communication, and supplier performance.
  • Support development and adherence to supply chain processes, tools, and KPIs.
  • Contribute to lessons learned and best practices for complex, multi-supplier programs.

Other Functions

  • Make recommendations for policy or procedural changes
  • Create reports and pivot tables, analyze data as needed to complete tasks at hand
  • Assist Supply Chain Leadership as need
