The National Systems Group serves as the technical adviser to the National Reconnaissance Office and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, ground and communications, imagery programs, and systems engineering and launch. Leveraging the corporation’s core competencies and cutting-edge technologies to support the acquisition and operation of major programs, NSG’s strategic focus is the application of systems engineering approaches to national intelligence, providing sound and objective technical recommendations and solutions.
In this opportunity as the Dir-H Advanced Electrical Power Subsystem Engineer (Project Engineer/Senior Project Engineer - Integration (Electronic and Mechanical) Engineering) for a Major System Acquisition. In this role, you will be a technical advisor responsible for mission assurance activities for a state-of-the-art major system acquisition within the Electronic Programs Division.
Work Model:
This is a full-time position based in El Segundo, CA which requires 100% onsite work.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading program office and matrix engineering support teams to identify technical risks and develop resolution plans to close technical issues within the electrical power subsystem while balancing program cost, schedule and performance constraints
- Working closely with Government program and contractor counterparts to communicate independent risk assessment findings and resolution recommendations
- Coordinating matrix engineering support to assess the planning and execution of satellite Assembly, Integration and Test (AI&T) related activities
- Leading matrix engineering support team independent analyses and assessments related to prime contractor trouble-shooting activities
What You Need to be Successful:
Minimum Requirements for the Project Engineer - Integration (Electronic and Mechanical) Engineering:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related science field
- 8 yrs engineering experience working w/space borne electrical power related component acquisitions such as batteries, solar cells and power distribution electronics for levels 4/5
- Experience with hardware design, analysis and test
- Experience leading matrix engineering support teams
- Willingness to travel to customer/contractor/supplier facilities (1-2 trips per quarter)
- This position requires a current and active TS/SCI security clearance and polygraph, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
In addition to the above, Senior Project Engineer - Integration (Electronic and Mechanical) Engineering requires:
- 10 yrs engineering experience working w/space borne electrical power related component acquisitions such as batteries, solar cells and power distribution electronics acquisitions for levels 6/7
- Strong communication skills with experience coordinating/leading exchanges between Aerospace and Contractor Subject Matter Experts as well as briefing Senior Customer program leadership

- Advanced degree in relevant engineering, mathematics or science field
- Experience with design/manufacture/test and mission assurance of power system components to include batteries, solar cells, solar arrays and power distribution/control electronics.
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for power system design & integration, as well as functional, performance and environmental testing
- Knowledge of best practices for conducting requirements verification, milestone reviews, anomaly investigation and failure review boards
