Job Description

AECOM has an exciting opportunity for a Mid-Level Environmental Engineer to join our Oakland, California Remediation team. We are seeking candidates who will be able to immediately contribute to the successful delivery of existing projects and promote growth in existing and new markets. You will work with a diverse team of technical leaders across a broad range of practice areas delivering remediation consulting, design, and implementation services to our key clients with focus on PFAS.

Responsibilities for this position may include the following:

  • Task management for field activities consisting soil, groundwater and sediment sample collection for PFAS contaminated sites.
  • Utilize basic scientific principles, theories, practices, and existing technologies to develop remedial approaches for soil and groundwater impact, including feasibility studies, removal action work plans, and remediation design plans.
  • Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Preparation of written reports, work plans, and technical memorandums and analysis of data and development of supported conclusions.
  • Preparation and implementation of work plans, cost estimates, data compilation/analysis, and report preparation.
  • Preparation of proposals and costs estimates for new opportunities.
  • Execute fieldwork by directing and overseeing individual or multiple contractors (laboratory, drillers, surveyors, excavation contractors).
  • Liaison with clients/client representatives, site facilities, subcontractors, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
  • Health and safety planning and hazard recognition.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, civil, or environmental engineering or related field .with 2 years of experience in the environmental remediation consulting industry, and experience in PFAS investigation (field and data evaluation) or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Experience working on environmental remediation projects including field sampling, data analysis, report writing, task management, cost estimate and proposal development, project implementation and execution.
  • Experience implementing rigorous safety standards and ensuring compliance.
  • Experience working within a dynamic team framework, in-person, and virtual settings.
  • Experience with environmental remediation systems (SVE, Excavation, ISCO, etc.).
  • Experience implementing various remedial strategies to achieve No Further Remediation (in-situ remediation, institutional, engineering, and administrative controls).
  • Strong research and report writing (including web-based research).
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Strong quality and time management.
  • Self-starter, develops and delivers work under own initiative.
  • Solid attention to detail and thorough approach to work.

Salary 

Offered rate of compensation in California will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $69,000 - $80,000.
