Senior Software Engineer - Robot Control System

Alert Innovation, now powered by Walmart, is a fast-growing venture on a mission to reinvent retail through robotics. We’ve partnered with Walmart to develop our Alphabot® technology, which is currently being deployed at stores throughout North America.

We’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer to play a critical role in leading the build of our software services for our state-of-the-art, micro fulfillment retail automation technology. As the Senior Software Engineer, you’ll be part of working with and mentoring a talented team focused on developing industry-changing solutions. 

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON:

• Developing reactive microservices written in Java to handle customer orders, control and coordinate robots, control various elements of the robotics system, and maintain metrics 
• Developing modular and well-documented software 
• Working with the electrical, mechanical, systems, and safety teams to detail software requirements 
• Investigate, assess, and implement new technologies into our robot control system software 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

• Experience in Java development (some Java 8 or above preferred), preferably in a robotics and/or automation product.
• Experience developing reactive microservices or experience developing event-driven distributed systems using asynchronous actors and messaging. 
• Experience with a messaging platform (ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, Kafka or similar.) 
• Experience with NoSQL databases and in-memory caches such as Redis or equivalent. 
• Understanding of networking (TCP/IP, HTTP, etc.) 
• Experience with Unit Testing (using Junit, Mockito or similar.)
• Experience working within an Agile environment. 
• B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or related area.
