Warehouse Specialist Ammo

Purpose and Scope: 

The Ammunition Warehouse Specialist performs a variety of warehousing duties that require an understanding of the Ammunition Storage Point (ASP) storage plan. 

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Issues, stores, inventories and perform location maintenance on all storage locations of ammunition and residue.

2. Ensure that all Ammunition Items stored are sealed to prevent pilferage.  

3. Inspect vehicles.

4. Conducts 100% location surveys and 100% inventories.

5. Complies with published policy, procedures and regulatory guidance for the receipt, storage, issue, and disposition of ammunition.

6. Performs accurate document editing procedures. 

7. Maintains and updates magazine data cards, ammunition store slips, storage plan-o-graphs and other related documents. 

8. Performs general housekeeping duties and maintenance of outside/inside the ASP. 

9. Loads / off loads vehicles and operates MHE up to 10K and other warehouse equipment.

10. Participates in Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) and QA Programs.

11. Mentors and assists with on-the-job training and cross-training.

12. Trains, cross trains and attends training sessions as required.

13. Complies with all Company rules, policies and procedures.

14. Complies with all safety, environmental & quality standards & applicable SOPs & Regulations.

15. Provides for the accountability and proper care of all GFE / CFE.

16. Favorably interacts with internal / external customers.

Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One or more years’ experience and specific knowledge in storage and warehouse functions, preferably with ammunition or hazardous materials.
• Must have ammunition handling experience (military or civilian equivalent).
• Must have or must pass the DOD Introduction to Ammunition (Ammo-45)
• Must have or must pass the DOD Hazmat General Awareness and Familiarization Training (Ammo-67)
• Must be able to successfully complete and maintain all required ammunition training.
• Must have or be able to obtain MHE licenses/certifications.
• Must have a valid and current state driver license.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• Must understand and be able to use Technical Manuals.
• Must be able to complete paperwork associated with ammunition.
• Ability to work in a team environment

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs with or without accommodation.
• Must utilize all proper lifting procedures and practices.
• Must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Must be able to work at heights.
• Must be able to work under pressure and strenuous conditions.
• Must be able to meet short suspense dates.
• Must be able to conduct work in the out-of-doors area with potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions (i.e. extreme temperatures, high humidity, rain and blowing dust).
• Must be able to withstand prolonged periods of stooping; climbing; standing; and sitting for long periods of uninterrupted time.
• May require shift work.
• May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• During the usual work period, the worker may be exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting and uncomfortable.
