Indian River Hospital is looking to add a Registered Dietitian to its team of compassionate caregivers. The Registered Dietitian in this role will provide specialized nutrition therapy to patients within the inpatient setting, assessing needs, creating nutrition plans (including tube or IV feeding), educating patients and families, and collaborating with doctors and nurses to manage conditions like diabetes, kidney disease, and malnutrition for better healing and health outcomes. It will be your goal to ensure each patient meets their nutritional needs while they are in the hospital. This is a great hands-on role that will allow you to advance your skills and potentially grow into management or coordinator roles down the line.  

A caregiver in this position works Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:00AM – 5:00PM, including every 5th Saturday. 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide direct patient care using medical nutrition therapy for an assigned patient population. 

  • Provide counseling and education services to patient with disease processes that require nutritional management. 

  • Implement nutritional care plans, communicate plans, establish a follow-up system and maintain documentation. 

  • Write changes for diet orders, initiate nutrient intake assessments, assess patients for signs and symptoms of nutritional deficiencies, evaluate appropriate fluid and electrolytes, review laboratory and clinical progress notes, inform physicians of patients' nutritional status and need for changes in diet, enteral or parenteral feeding and develop care plans, documentation and reassessments. 

  • Develop and contribute to Cleveland Clinic sponsored education programs for physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, students, peers and the public. 

  • Create and revise education materials related to disease management through medical nutrition therapy. 

  • Participate in program development
