Full Sail University, the leader in education for the Entertainment, Media, Arts and Technology industries is seeking an experienced production technician for the role of Assistant Production Manager. The successful candidate will work as part of the Events Department, reporting to the Director of Event Technical Operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Take a leadership role over assigned events, managing an event from inception through to completion with minimal supervision. This may include, but is not limited to, meeting with internal and external clients, assessing their event needs, putting together show documentation, booking crew and managing the actual event

  • In many cases, this position will be required to act as a show producer. This is especially true in the case of internal events where Full Sail is producing the show, not an outside client. This typically entails making sure that the show is rehearsed properly, and calling cues on intercom during the show itself

  • Communicate event needs with the different production disciplines on the events team, including audio, lighting, video and event planning

  • Coordinate with Director of Event Technical Operations to schedule freelance labor as needed

  • Coordinate with Director of Event Technical Operations to arrange for rental equipment as needed

  • Work with Director of Live Events and Production Managers to make sure that security needs are met for each event

  • Create and disseminate call sheets to production crew members

  • Cultivate and manage student work-study staff and volunteers who frequently work our shows.

  • Assist internal and external clients with creating adequate Run of Show documentation

  • Collect media assets such as PowerPoint files, Keynote files, video files and audio files for assigned events, and ensure that the appropriate disciplines have the files that are relevant to them

  • Import Run of Show documents into ShoFlo, or create ShoFlo Run of Show documents from scratch

  • Work with other members of the events staff to ensure crew food is being handled properly

  • This position will be required to operate production equipment when needed to fill gaps in coverage. Be prepared to do some basic audio, lighting or video at a moment’s notice

  • This role in production will manage lower impact recurring events while affording a chance to train into larger recurring and one-off productions. For larger, more complex events, the assistant production manager will directly answer to the event production manager.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • NO

Competencies:

  • Broad, general knowledge of various production disciplines, including audio, lighting, video and networking. This job does not require an expert in any one discipline, but rather someone who generally understands the basics of each.

  • Ability to create show documentation such as run of shows and advance sheets, as well as the ability to read show documentation such as input lists, stage plots, lighting plots, camera plots, etc.

  • Prior experience managing production crews is required.

  • Previous experience with building and managing staging.

  • Impeccable communication skills. This position will interact with many people from other departments across the university. Managing relationships with various departments that we support is essential to success in this role.

  • Excellent time management skills.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years working in the live event production field

Computer/Equipment Skills:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Docs is a requirement for this position.

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud suite would be a huge plus, but not required.

Environmental Factors/Physical Demands:
Ability to lift 50lbs. This job can be physically demanding at times. Event Production is not a 9am to 5pm environment at Full Sail University. Applicant should be eager to work nights and weekends as dictated by the Event Schedule.
