Summary
About this position:
Responsible for operating a tractor and related equipment to cut and maintain grass along the levees and flood protection structures on the East Bank of the Mississippi River, which consists of Orleans, St. Bernard, and Jefferson Parishes. This ensures safe and effective vegetation control to support flood risk management, visibility, and accessibility of levee systems.

Job Duties:
The incumbent will work under the supervision of Levee Foreman A, Levee Foreman B, Levee Foreman C, Maintenance Superintendent, Operations and Maintenance Coordinator, or the Maintenance Regional Director.
The incumbent in this position performs a physical effort to accomplish a variety of tasks in the Maintenance Departments of the SLFPA-E, as follows:
- Operates one or more of the following types of equipment as a primary, regular and recurring function of the job: field tractors with power ratings up to and including 125hp; tractors which may be equipped with attachments such as bush-hogs, belly attachment, blades, loaders, hoes, flail mowers, brooms and gang mower up to 21 feet across, etc.; forklifts with lifting capacity over 10,000 lbs. or lift height over 12 feet; if the incumbent has a current Class A CDL license, may be required to operate bobtail and/or tandem dump trucks with rating capacity of 12 yards or less.
- May operate front end-loaders, dump trucks and other equipment in the SLFPA-E’s Right-of-Way.
- Required to operate any equipment enumerated for the Mobile Equipment Operator 1, Mobile Equipment Operator Light and/or Laborer when necessary to accomplish work objectives.
- Makes minor repairs to equipment and performs user maintenance necessary to keep equipment in clean, good working order.
