POSITION SUMMARY

Matthews Automation Solutions is the leader in automation products and services serving the supply chain and material handling industries. Products include Warehouse Execution Software (WES) and light directed work products. Matthews Automation Solutions is searching for a Senior Product Manager, responsible for defining the product strategy and roadmap for assigned products and portfolio. The Senior Product Manager is a member of the leadership team and collaborates with the other functional teams (Sales, Engineering, Finance, HR & Operations) on executing company strategies, meeting budgets, and the work unit planned processes. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, other duties as assigned.

Product Strategy & Lifecycle Management
•    Own full Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) from concept through end-of-life, including end-of-support decisions.
•    Develop and execute product strategy aligned with corporate objectives and market opportunities.
•    Conduct annual portfolio reviews, including pricing strategy, profitability, lifecycle positioning, and product rationalization.
•    Analyze product cost structure, margins, and overall profitability; drive corrective actions as needed.
•    Identify new market opportunities through structured market research, competitive analysis, and customer engagement.
•    Serve as subject matter expert (SME) for assigned product families across internal teams, sales channels, and customer engagements.
•    Define and maintain product roadmaps informed by market intelligence, customer needs, and business strategy.
 New Product Development (NPD)
•    Lead new product initiatives using NPD processes and governance frameworks.
•    Conduct Voice of the Customer (VOC) research to validate market assumptions and defines compelling value propositions.
•    Develop product requirements and specifications grounded in customer problems and business opportunities.
•    Prepare comprehensive business cases, including financial modeling, sales forecasts, and ROI analysis.
•    Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, R&D, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, and Marketing throughout the development lifecycle.
•    Ensure successful commercialization by collaborating with Marketing on launch strategy, messaging, and go-to-market planning
•    Support internal training and enablement activities for new product launches.
 Opportunity/Ongoing Product Support
•    Monitor sales performance, margin trends, and market adoption; recommend strategic adjustments.
•    Manage product documentation integrity, including Installation/Operation Guides, Performance Data Sheets, and product labeling as part of BOM governance.
•    Drive product rationalization and excess & obsolete (E&O) initiatives.
•    Support demand planning, forecasting, and production alignment.
•    Provide product support for RFQs, proposals, and concept development for new business opportunities.
•    Coordinate cross-functional communication between customers, sales, engineering, service, and operations.
•    Ensure clear communication of product updates impacting marketing materials and customer-facing documentation.
•    Conducts product rationalization analysis and activities. Conducts excess & obsolete activities (E&O).
•    Provides input and support to sales forecast and production planning.
•    Coordinate communications between customers and various internal departments (sales, service, engineering, and operations).

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in Marketing or Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2-5 years of previous product management experience. Software product management experience is a plus.
  • Specific Skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Business Intelligence, ERP systems, Salesforce          
  • Travel up to 25%
