Job Overview
The Medical Director of Street Medicine leads, develops, implements, and evaluates AltaMed’s care model for patients with complex social and clinical needs. The Director works closely with Executive Physician Leadership and Executive Governance Leadership, and the AltaMed Institute for Health Equity to improve care and achieve key health outcomes. The Director represents AltaMed at various organizations and task forces to lead healthcare system reform that will improve primary care in underserved communities. The Director practices primary care medicine a minimum of 10% of the time, caring for patients with complex social and clinical needs, including people experiencing homelessness. The Director serves as a physician mentor for peer physicians, nurses, and other staff. The Director dedicates the remaining 90% of their time to develop, implement, and evaluate the AltaMed care model for patients with complex social and clinical needs.
Minimum Requirements
Active unrestricted California license to practice medicine by the Medical Board of California
Leadership and/or management experience at a community health center or clinic serving primarily underserved patients.
Experience in care model development focused on underserved populations.
Experience with managed care, administration of programs, and staff supervision preferred.
Demonstrated experience developing and implementing quality improvement programs preferred.
Previous experience with computer-based systems required; Electronic Medical Records experience.
Education, training, and experience are necessary to meet the underwritten requirements for inclusion under AltaMed’s malpractice insurance coverage.
Bilingual: English/Spanish/Mandarin/Cantonese preferred, depending on location.
A minimum requirement of a valid BLS certification or higher, following the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross guidelines.
Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance or an alternate reliable method of transportation required.
Compensation
$292,331.52 - $365,414.40 annuallyCompensation Disclaimer
Actual salary offers are considered by various factors, including budget, experience, skills, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. The range is subject to change. AltaMed is committed to ensuring a fair and competitive compensation package that reflects the candidate's value and the role's strategic importance within the organization.
