Major Responsibilities:

  • Manages and oversees the operations, staff and sustainable business growth of assigned retail pharmacy stores within a geographic area. Oversees established initiatives for service and clinical quality, employee engagement and financial performance. Monitors each store's productivity and works with supervisors and pharmacists to make appropriate staff adjustments. Oversees the float pharmacy technicians and pharmacists, and ensures coverage is provided at all the supported sites.
  • Maintains a high degree of on-site visibility, performing regular visits to assigned stores. Collaborates with supervisors and pharmacists to ensure effective and efficient operations, and that organizational goals, initiatives and performance targets are met. Meets with Supervisors to review and evaluate facility and employee appearance, review of business development initiatives, manage annual pharmacy inventories, and to ensure adherence to compliance and merchandising standards, pharmacy rules and regulations, and policies and procedures.
  • Implements operational goals and contingency plans, and monitors progress while holding leadership and staff accountable. Develops supervisors to promote higher levels of patient experience for assigned stores.
  • Identifies, develops, and conducts appropriate training and education to ensure staff meet and maintain skills and competencies including clinical performance, safety, and all other regulatory requirements.
  • Resolves customer service complaints and concerns. Works with site supervisors and staff to resolve and perform service recovery.
  • Responsible for promoting and advertising pharmacy services and ensuring prescription capture. Actively participates in and works with support services to manage business opportunities and processes for pharmacy services. Collaborates with assigned patient service market leadership and non-Aurora leadership on growth and development initiatives.
  • Identifies, plans, and organizes information system and technology improvements for assigned stores. Oversees and ensures staff is trained, orientated, and competent in use of systems and programs.
  • Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.
  • Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.
  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to the organization's business.


Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • Pharmacist license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
  • Patient facing pharmacists are required to be immunization certified.  Immunization certification is to be granted from the state of WI or if from out of state, the program is approved by the accreditation council for pharmacy education (ACPE) or by the WI pharmacy examining board.


Education Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy.


Experience Required:

  • Typically requires 5 years of experience in pharmacy practice that includes experiences in retail pharmacy operations. Includes 1 year of supervisory experience in managing staff and budgets.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities including problem solving, prioritization, decision making, delegation, team building, customer service, and conflict resolution.
  • Advanced level knowledge of the advances in pharmaceutical practices and understanding of health care and retail pharmacy trends.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with providers, staff and patients.
