Position Description

Our Principal Engineer II is a key member of the engineering staff working across the organization to provide a friction-less experience to our customers and maintain the highest standards of protection and availability. The ideal candidate has broad and deep technical knowledge, typically ranging from front-end UIs through back-end systems and all points in between.

 

Position Responsibilities

As a Principal Engineer II, you will:

·       Provide leadership to engineering teams utilizing data and related technologies

·       Own complete solution across entire life cycle while utilizing strong problem-solving ability

·       Influence and build vision with product managers, team members, customers, and other engineering teams to solve complex problems for building enterprise class business applications

·       Be accountable for the quality, usability, and performance of the solutions

·       Lead design sessions and code reviews to elevate the quality of engineering across the organization

·       Responsible for technical aspects of a solution at the project level

·       Lead critical projects/initiatives

·       Focus on quality of the solution. This includes architectural aspects related to performance, scalability, availability, security, and maintainability

·       Spearhead new feature use (innovate within existing tooling)

·       Spearhead new software acquisition & use (innovate with new tooling)

·       Leverage automation to remove redundant error prone tasks to improve the quality of the solution

·       Define patterns and solutions for complex problems.

·       Coordinate with other business units to ensure work comports with architectural vision for the enterprise. Includes both functional and non-functional requirements

·       Utilize programming languages / databases (.NET, SQL, NoSQL), Container Orchestration services (Docker and Kubernetes), and a variety of Azure tools and services across the Software Development Lifecycle

·       Execute software delivery utilizing continuous delivery, Infrastructure as code, PowerShell scripting, Operation Portals (e.g., Azure Portal) and Monitoring Portals (e.g., Splunk and Application Insights)

·       Mentor junior team members in Data and related technology

·       Share best practices and improve processes within and across teams

 

 

Qualifications

·       Experience with bringing data into a centralized data repository or manipulating the available data to build additional data sets for Analytics and Reporting purposes

·       Experienced with maintaining data quality throughout the lifecycle of the data

·       Experience with Data Modeling, source to target mapping

·       Experience with automated testing frameworks

·       Experience with CI/CD pipelines and task automation using scripting

·       Experienced with end-to-end automation

·       Developing new and enhancing existing data processing (Data Ingest, Data Transformation, Data Store, Data Management, Data Quality) components

·       Strong working knowledge of SQL and the ability to write, debug and optimize SQL queries and ETL or ELT jobs to reduce the execution window or reduce resource utilization

·       Data Engineering experience focused on batch and streaming data pipelines development, Data processing/data transformation using ETL or ETL tools

·       Experience with Cloud Data Warehouse solutions experience. Examples include Snowflake, Azure DW, Redshift, or similar technology in other private or public clouds

·       Complete software development lifecycle experience including design, documentation, implementation, testing, and deployment

·       Must be able to concentrate and demonstrate a capacity for learning technical concepts and adapting to new technologies quickly

·       Must be able to follow complex instructions, resolve conflicts or facilitate conflict resolution, and have strong organization/priority setting skills

·       Must be able to multi-task

·       Must be able to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information and follow processes that have been published

·       Must be knowledgeable of software coding and following standards and processes that have been published and the guidelines for the design

·       Must be able to communicate in a clear, concise, professional oral or written manner, to be understood by customers, clients, co-workers, and other employees of the organization.
