The NP provides healthcare in cardiac ambulatory specialty care and cardiac acute care health care settings. The NP provides comprehensive cardiology care ranging from medical to surgical cardiac conditions. The NP has didactic education, clinical competency and national certification in identified area of clinical practice. The NP demonstrates medical knowledge, clinical judgment, technical competence, professionalism, interpersonal communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and is responsible for professional development and competency validation. Our Pediatric Cardiology Teams at VUMC are growing! We are looking for an Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Pediatric Cardiology Specialist: Electrophysiology.
The Pediatric Electrophysiology Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) provides healthcare in a variety of settings and has didactic education, clinical competency and national certification in pediatric clinical practice. The NP/PA demonstrates medical knowledge, clinical judgment, technical competence, professionalism, interpersonal communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and is responsible for professional development and competency validation. The NP/PA works in collaboration with a multidisciplinary health care team (4 full time electrophysiologists, and 1 full time NP) on the inpatient electrophysiology and exercise physiology labs.
The role of the hired advanced practice provider will be to support the inpatient electrophysiology team including following functions:
H&P and discharge summaries for EP cases
Inpatient (floors, ICU, ED) consults at VCH
Inpatient device checks and reprogramming
Preprocedural consultation evaluations
Answering EPIC messages related to post procedural issues
Keeping procedural logs and database management
Participating in education of learners in an academic institution

Department Summary:
The Pediatric Heart Institute Electrophysiology Program is part of comprehensive pediatric surgical and medical congenital heart service at Monroe Carell Children’s Hospital. The PHI performs around 500 cases per year. The APP will join a team of multi-disciplinary electrophysiology team consisting of physicians, APPs, and other disciplines that support the overall mission of comprehensive care for children with congenital heart disease.
Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner-Acute Care (CPNP-AC)
Dual Certification in Primary Care Preferred
Physician Assistant
2-3 years of Advanced Practice Experience in pediatric congenital heart experience Preferred
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Obtains and documents a health history; performs and documents complete, system-focused, or symptom-specific physical examination, assessment and plan of care.
• In collaboration, provides healthcare services for primary, acute and complex care of patients and manages patient's overall care, identifying expected outcomes for diagnoses.
• Orders, performs, interprets and collects data using appropriate assessment techniques, relevant supporting diagnostic information and diagnostic procedures where indicated.
• Forms differential diagnoses and treats acute and chronic conditions.
