Job Summary
The Network Services Operations Manager provides managerial and technical leadership to the team that supports the daily operations of layer one, two and three networking functions. The operations team includes support for the physical layer, switches, routers, and firewalls. The operations team is responsible for advanced troubleshooting of the Bread Financial network and firewall security infrastructure across the first three layers of the OSI model. These roles include providing daily management to the Azure Cloud operational footprint. The team shares responsibility with the TCS support team and is an escalation point for TCS. This role ensures continuity and alignment of the network and security administration and engineering direction. The Network Services Operations Manager supports Bread Financials strategies and participates in architecting the network and security infrastructure as well as the development of guidelines, procedures, and standards. Alignment with the Network Services Engineering team will ensure mutual support with design standards.The Network Services Operations Manager requires subject matter knowledge across network and security-based technologies, services, and components. This role must stay abreast of latest technology developments to ensure service levels proactively meet or exceed Bread Financial requirements and service level agreements with key stakeholders and vendors. Additionally, this role requires demonstrable experience leading efforts to develop and create positive outcomes with strategic planning and execution.
Essential Job Functions:
Strategy and Building Relationships: Create, maintain, and grow a healthy working relationship with the InfoSec team to ensure alignment. Technical and managerial leadership in establishing goals and priorities, design, planning, day-to-day operation, maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting of the network and security infrastructure. Meet with leadership team quarterly, to align strategy, services, and coordinate any required implementation activities. Build and maintain relationships with business operations, IT&O leaders and vendors. Participate in resource planning and allocate resources to meet goals of the functional area, IT&O goals and business priorities. Assist the director in the development of the budget and develop project cost estimates. Provide innovative ideas and approaches that improve availability of organizations systems and participates in activities to improve departmental and organizational performance. Establish and maintain relationships with outside vendors of IT&O products, professional organizations, contract employees, external auditors and consultants.
Project and Program Management: Serve their team as a formal Program Manager. Assign project-based work for Network Services. Manage the project portfolio of each member of the team and report project status daily. Daily review and triage of all service now tickets that are in their team’s queue. Organize, plan, assign, and monitor completion of work. Ensure all systems adhere to established policies, procedures, and standards. Establish and manage internal service level agreements and ensure external service level agreements with vendors are met. Participate in the development of standards, policies, and procedures; ensure support of standards, policies, and procedures. Maintain and protect confidentiality regarding all aspects of customer and client information.
System and Reporting: Responsible for assisting the Manager of Network Services Engineering so the monthly audits for all Network Services documentation is accurate and up to date. Responsible for monthly reporting for the Operations tower. Continue to look for new metrics to report on as continuous improvement should be the baseline. Ensure that service resources are assigned for the timely resolution of problems related to circuits, switches, firewalls, and overall network performance. Implement, monitor and support network and security environment for all equipment. Support the ongoing maintenance of network and security devices by ensuring (1) up-to-date software releases, (2) maintenance of configurations and (3) maintenance of DR plan and testing. Provide 24x7 on-call support in troubleshooting, coordinating, escalating to ensure the recovery of failed components or equipment.
