Position Summary

The Program Manager for the Office of Community Outreach and Engagement is charged with implementing and evaluating initiatives to engage the communities within the Meyer Cancer Center’s catchment area (Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens). These initiatives may include public education related to cancer prevention, treatment, and survivorship; the launch of new or expanding cancer screening services, often with partners throughout the community; navigation services for vulnerable populations to ensure timely screening or treatment; partnerships to support the design and implementation of Center-derived, community-based research; work with the community to enhance access to clinical trials; and advocacy efforts to change or support public policies that would decrease the cancer burden or risk of cancer within the catchment area. The position offers an exciting leadership opportunity for individuals with experience in program management and dedication to managing programs that respond to needs from local communities.

Job Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the Office of Community Outreach Engagement (OCOE) including staff and administrative management
• Work closely with staff to develop and evaluate programs that advance the mission and vision of MCC
• Develop and sustain collaborative relationships with community-based organizations for ongoing engagement and inclusion on research projects that call for community engagement
• Plan, facilitate and participate in internal and external events and meetings that support OCOE initiatives. This can involve working evenings, Saturdays or Sundays as needed
• Develop and oversee relevant databases with staff. Develop, administer, and analyze assessment measures and evaluation metrics
• Work with leadership to identify and actively pursue sources of potential funding to support sustainable outreach and engagement efforts
• Assist in writing, reviewing, and editing of grant proposals for submission to government agencies, foundations, and not-for-profit organizations
• Collaborate with communications staff to disseminate programs’ progress and results to lay audiences, internal stakeholders, and other academic institutions
• Keep abreast of changes in the field through regular attendance at conferences and seminars
• Participate in relevant working groups.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

• Bachelor's Degree

Experience

• Masters degree desired, preferably in public health or related area.
• 5 years of related experience in outreach administration role, with at least 3 years of managerial experience.

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities with tight deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency with data visualization.
• Exceptional negotiation, strategic thinking and influencing skills; openness to new ideas.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with a variety of people, including internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated record of successfully managing programs within complex organizations.
• Proven ability to build collaborations and influence without direct supervisory authority.
• Demonstrated proficiency with data-driven analytical processes and outcome tracking.
