Job Description
Fortune Recommends is looking to hire a deputy editor with experience writing and editing personal finance content, with an accent on banking, deposits, and investing.
Candidates should have good knowledge of investing as well as banking products—savings accounts, checking accounts, and certificates of deposit. They should also possess excellent copyediting skills and a dedication to creating high-quality service journalism.
The deputy editor will be responsible for editing copy, managing freelance writers, and helping to create banking and investing product reviews and best product ranking methodologies. Knowledge and understanding of SEO techniques is essential.

Responsibilities:
- Edit and fact-check banking and investing stories written by freelancers and staff writers, with an eye to maintaining our house style and voice
- Write banking and investing reviews, best product roundups, and related industry news coverage
- Maintain relations with and assign stories to a large roster of freelance writers
- Help maintain best practices for the banking and investing team, including style, compliance, article templates, and overall editorial process
- Leverage data and SEO techniques to create monthly assignments
- Help build methodologies to evaluate, review, rate, and rank bank deposit and investing products
Requirements:
- In-depth knowledge of bank deposit products and investing
- At least two years of experience writing or editing investing or banking content
- Experience managing freelancers
- Strong familiarity with SEO best practices, willingness to learn and expand SEO skills
- Very strong organizational skills, with a detailed understanding of editorial planning processes
- Nimble and open to changes in strategy
- Familiarity with Asana is a plus
Compensation Range:
$90,000.00 - $110,000.00
