Job Summary:

Assists the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) administrator in all functions to ensure that both electronic data and images flow accurately through the imaging department. Applies substantial knowledge of the job and experience to complete a wide range of activities with varying difficulty. Works on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

  • High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
  • Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
  • Two years' diagnostic imaging experience: Preferred

Essential Functions:

  • Ensures that radiologists are provided with adequate comparison images in PACS.
  • Maintains and monitors PACS error logs and follows up on errors and incomplete reports with corrective action.
  • Sets up voice dictation with radiologists and trains new clinicians in PACS image and data flow. Serves as liaison to outside clinicians as needed.
  • Assists with the upkeep, communication and monitoring of image and data flow policies and procedures. Ensures the integrity of patient medical images and data while adhering to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other patient confidentiality guidelines and regulations. Complies with local, state and federal regulations.
  • Maintains image library and manages outside images.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
