About the role:
As a leading member of the Firmware Test Engineering Team, you will be responsible for providing strong technical leadership for the verification of embedded software for medical devices and instrumentation. Detecting defects early in the development process is critical, and you will be charged with ensuring that the firmware is robust and that it meets all requirements prior to release. Providing leadership to constantly improve the process through automation to drive rapid testing will be a significant part of the job. The successful candidates will be detail-oriented, process-focused, results-driven, and able to work well cross-functionally with a broad range of teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Be responsible for providing technical leadership of the Firmware Test Engineering team to implement methodologies to ensure that Firmware defects are caught as early as possible in the development process.
Work closely and cross-functionally with the firmware and hardware development and quality teams and with the program lead and functional management to develop a comprehensive and detailed test plan to verify that the firmware meets the requirements with high test coverage.
Develop tests at the appropriate level of the system. Determine the correct mix of unit tests, integration tests, and FCAT tests at the board, system, and interface levels.
As appropriate, develop and document test benches consisting of PC workstation, system hardware, peripheral emulators, and electronic test equipment to enable thorough testing of the firmware running on the system hardware.
Collaborate with the Systems, Software, Firmware, and Hardware development teams during the Firmware requirements creation process to ensure that the firmware requirements set is unambiguous, complete, realizable, and verifiable.
Develop and extend methods to automate the execution of the firmware tests to shorten test time, reduce errors introduced by manual testing, and increase test reliability.
