What the Role Involves:
As a Lead Energy Management Systems (EMS) Technician, you’ll be responsible for documenting and installing control system hardware, cabling, and conduit to support refrigeration and building energy management conversions and upgrades. You’ll also perform hands-on technician duties related to the installation and maintenance of EMS solutions across supermarkets, convenience stores, and foodservice establishments.
- Lead the installation and maintenance of Energy Management Systems in coordination with cross-functional trade members.
- Read blueprints and interpret control and ladder logic type diagrams.
- Use standard hand tools, power tools, and specialty tools such as voltmeter, multi-meter, amprobe, manometer, and RPM speed indicator
- Execute plans of control wiring and other electrical systems
- Install electrical apparatus, fixtures and equipment for alarm and other systems
- Install safety and distribution components (e.g. switches, resistors, circuit-breaker panels etc.)
- Connect wiring in electrical circuits and networks ensuring compatibility of components
- Prepare and assemble conduits and connect wiring through them
- Prevent breakdown of systems by routinely inspecting and replacing old wiring and insulated cables, cleaning circuits etc.
- Perform effective troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair or substitute damaged units
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience working with electrical systems, with a strong emphasis on commercial construction projects
- High School diploma or GED
- Valid State Driver’s License
The Ideal Candidate:
- Willingness and ability to travel 50-70% of the time.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and perform job safely to OSHA and Hillphoenix protocols; thorough knowledge of safety procedures, legal regulations, and guidelines
- Must have trade related skills and knowledge of hand tools and power tools
- Demonstrable ability to use electrical hand tools (e.g. wire strippers, voltmeter etc.) and electrical drawings and blueprints
- Advanced knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration EMS systems; understands Refrigeration/HVAC control wiring
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and business contacts in a courteous and professional manner
- Experience in industrial and/or commercial settings
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability
