General Purpose
The role focuses on customer payments and the related processes required to provide the outstanding service our customers expect. This role partners with several key internal departments including but not limited to: Customer Care Centers, Treasury, Central Cashiers Office, Corporate Accounting, Information Technology, Regulation, various external partners including banks and payment processing vendors.
The Payment Support Analyst conducts research, gathers and interprets data, develops conceptual alternatives, provides data-backed recommendations to management and may implement selected solutions and/or alternatives. Analyses include feasibility studies, cost and benefit analysis, trending/forecasting, financial analysis, budget analysis and reporting. The Analyst will routinely troubleshoot payment-related issues, working with various internal and external parties as needed.
Responsibilities
- Promote a customer first culture and commit to delivering outstanding results for customers
- Build relationships and work jointly with both internal and external customers and all levels of the organization in a positive manner to supply necessary updates and reporting as needed
- Perform basic to medium complexity assignments with limited guidance that requires creative thinking and ‘outside of the box’ problem solving.
- Serve as a subject matter expert, provide training and communication of changes related to customer facing payment processes
- Participate in user acceptance testing for payment related system changes as needed
- Participate in the verification of deployed system changes for the payment process
- Conduct analysis through research, gathering, and interpretation of basic to medium-complexity data
- Conduct analysis including but not limited to feasibility studies, cost/benefit analysis, data trending, financial analysis, budget analysis, and reporting
- Present analysis and recommendations to management and support selected solution as needed
- Monitor and validate payment data ranging from an individual payment to totals for daily, quarterly, yearly and multi-year for trending, including reconciliation with other data sources
- Audit business system data, examine actuals against targets, forecast performance, analyze business processes, and conduct special studies
- Provide training and communication of changes in policies and procedures
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or other applicable fields; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- A minimum of four years of directly related experience in gathering, analysis, interpretation, trending
- Commitment to encouraging and supporting diversity, equity and inclusion
- Development of data and information gathering, analysis, and results interpretation skills
- Proficient with the use of spreadsheets, options assessment and presentation of findings including proposed solutions and justifications
- Advanced communication and interpersonal skills to interface with team members, customers and vendors for solution focused creative problem solving, providing clear direction and promoting positive customer outcomes
- Ability to engage and build respected relationships with all levels of an organization, including people with different learning styles, backgrounds, and ability to work as a member on a team
- Teamwork skills to negotiate with and inform peers and management on policy and strategic issues
- Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving skills and follow through on commitments
Preferences
- Subject matter expertise of banking regulations including National Automated Clearing House Association guidelines and principles
- Knowledge of data querying
- Knowledge of payment processing touchpoints
- Awareness, tracking of payment trends, customer journeys and pinch points
- Knowledge of payment execution, payment processing
- Knowledge of the electric utility industry
- Knowledge of applicable company policies and procedures; applicable federal, state, and local governmental laws and regulations
