Software Expert (CAD and Engineering)

Compensation: $0-$100 per hour

Location: Remote (must have access to a physical Mac)

We are supporting a high-priority data collection initiative designed to enhance how AI systems interpret complex engineering software interfaces and real-world, multi-step professional workflows. Many existing datasets lack the technical depth and expert grounding required to accurately reflect authentic CAD and engineering tool usage.

This project bridges that gap by gathering high-quality screen recordings and detailed UI annotations from experienced professionals actively working within real digital environments.

Requirements

What You’ll Do

Depending on the stage of the project, you may be responsible for one or both of the following:

• Record screen sessions demonstrating specific engineering tasks, with clear verbal narration explaining each step and decision
• Annotate screenshots by drawing precise bounding boxes around relevant UI components
• Follow structured staging instructions to configure required software states before recording
• Use a custom capture tool to document workflows accurately and consistently
• Strictly adhere to detailed guidelines to ensure data accuracy and usability

Required Expertise

You should have strong hands-on familiarity with professional engineering and CAD tools such as:

• AutoCAD Mechanical
• SolidWorks
• Autodesk Inventor
• Vivado

Additionally, you should:

• Be highly detail-oriented and comfortable following precise technical instructions
• Be able to work independently and meet tight deadlines
• Have access to a physical Mac device and be willing to create a fresh macOS user profile if required

Nice to Have

• Experience with data collection, annotation, or QA initiatives
• Prior experience recording or documenting engineering workflows
• Comfort adapting to new tools and staged digital environments

• Screen recordings capture realistic, expert-level engineering workflows
• Tasks are completed efficiently while maintaining strict quality standards
• Collected data is scalable and usable for advanced AI research and development

Contract & Payment Terms

• Engagement as an independent contractor
• Fully remote with flexible scheduling
• Weekly payments via Stripe or Wise based on services rendered
• Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded depending on performance and program needs
• No access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution is required
• Visa sponsorship (including H1-B or STEM OPT) is not available
