Job Title: SQL Database Admin
Location: Fort Bragg, NC (Remote)
Clearance Level: Active DoD - Secret
Salary Range: $73,500 - $110,250 Required Certification(s): DoD IAT Level II Certification (must have upon starting).Advanced Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server certification (preferred).
SUMMARYAgile Defense is seeking a SQL Database Admin to support the United States Army Reserve Command (USARC) military pay and personnel operations. On this project, you will help support the development, modernization, and sustainment of the Regional Level Application Software (RLAS) application and the Pay Management Division (PMD) data environment.In this role, you will be working with a team to create a new shared data environment that integrates seamlessly with the A365 Environment and DoD Data Strategy. To accomplish this, you will provide programming, coding, and database development support to modernize and re-engineer automated and semi-automated business processes and the USAR Pay Management Division (PMD).
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMaximize database stability and uptime of databases supporting the Enterprise, including Production, Test, and Development environments through system monitoring, performance tuning, and routine maintenance tasks such as index rebuilds, file compression, statistical updates, and database consistency checks.Manage the storage environments for the databases, including optimal sizing, monitoring space, requesting additional storage, and providing growth statistics.Create tables, views, indexes, database links, materialized views, stored procedures, and other database objects as needed; create and assign database roles and privileges.Create and execute database backup and recovery policies and maintain integrity and reliability of access to information.Import and export data to and from the database servers.Perform routine backup and recovery testing, including testing and documenting recovery scenarios.Work with application/development teams to assist in overall database design, help developers tune queries, assign proper indexes, and aid developers in the creation of triggers and stored procedures.Responsible for database performance monitoring and capacity planning.Monitor and analyze disk I/O, and queue lengths.Conduct troubleshooting of issues associated with supported SQL databases.Perform SQL performance tuning tasks.Create and maintain detailed SOPs, configuration documentation, and maintenance plans for the database environment.Serve as technical liaison between cloud, security, and pay teams.Support client site change control activities, support change control requests, and review boards concerning system implementation.Perform security hardening via group policies, local policies, scripting, etc.Distinguish between necessary security settings that would protect the system while ensuring usability versus security settings to meet security compliance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required CertificationsDoD IAT Level II Certification (must have upon starting).Advanced Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server certification (preferred).
Education, Background, and Years of ExperienceMaster's Degree with 10 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree with 12 years experience.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Required SkillsAbility to assist and work alongside the SQL Developer in creating, maintaining, and sustaining required streamlined solutions while ensuring database administration and security best practices.Capable of leading and participating in the development and maintenance of database systems while also offering Database development resource to the development team.Support the review of and provide technical solutions to projects which may be in different stages of the development life cycle.Requires knowledge and experience with Oracle or MS SQL Server DBMS, SQL Language, Unix/Linux including basic shell commands, data warehousing, report generation, job scheduling and monitoring tools, XML, HTML, open source development, and technical documenting skills (WindowsOffice/Visio, etc.).
