About the role

This Opportunity

Provides technical assistance and guidance for multi-site/phase water resource engineering work processes, due diligence, investigation, remediation, impact assessment, and environmental permitting projects.  Develops processes and infrastructure relating to water supply, stormwater facilities, irrigation facilities, culverts, hydrology, open channel hydraulics, bridge hydraulics, floodplain modeling/mapping, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, river/stream/habitat restoration and fish passage, pollution control and treatment, and preserving the quality of the environment by averting the contamination and degradation of water resources.  Substantiates reports and documentation to advise on field conditions, movement, and outcome of overall risks to ecological and human health.  Assists project leadership with environmental site assessment, corrective strategies, classification of contaminated materials, development of process and infrastructure, and assisting with once in a lifetime mixed-use projects of enormous scale to smaller scale projects that involve very exciting design opportunities.  Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards.

Your Impact

  • Determine well-defined data collection methods for collecting, identifying, and compiling environmental data from samples of water, sludge, and other matrices for projects, investigations, and surveys.
  • Perform professional water resources engineering work and conduct investigations, analysis, and inspections relating to water supply/quality/management, stormwater facilities, irrigation facilities, culverts, hydrology, open channel hydraulics, bridge hydraulics, floodplain modeling/mapping, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, canal development,  river/stream/habitat restoration and fish passage, waste disposal, and pollution control and treatment activities to avert the contamination and degradation of water resources and determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits.
  • Ensure that the planning and management of available water supply is adequately leveraged, treated, improved upon and remains safe for various end uses – recreationally, commercially, and/or industrially.
  • Develop technologies, monitoring devices, modeling techniques, design requirements, and operating strategies to reduce the volume and toxicity of pollutants, account for the negative environmental impact of industrial facilities, power plants, and transportation vehicles/systems, and allow for greater use of water resources.
  • Work as an individual or as part of a cross-functional team to execute project work, assist with emission and mass balance calculations, permit applications, compliance documentation, and regulatory and technical analysis memos.
  • Assist with environmental site assessments (Phase I and II).
  • Research environmental databases regarding historical property land uses.
  • Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, accurate reports, and illustrations for the interpretation or presentation of data, findings, or analyses.
  • Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements, statistical analysis, and reporting.
  • Assist with development and scoping of medium-sized projects.
  • Perform concept level design of treatment works and analyze hydrologic and hydraulic models and computations for storm water and watershed master planning, stream restoration, and water quality studies.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations that explain research, findings, and recommendations to prevent, control, restore, clean-up, or address environmental issues or problems.
  • Assist in the analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of environmental data obtained during field investigations, offering input with developing action plans for moderate- to high-level threat mitigation activities.
  • Design water purification methods through desalination or creating new equipment for contaminant transport when water is used for irrigation purposes.
  • Design a variety of facilities, such as bioretentions, green roofs, permeable pavements, stormwater ponds, manufactured treatment devices, and underground detention facilities.
  • Prepare watershed studies, floodplain studies, and evaluate regulated impoundment structures for compliance with regulations.
  • Prepare and implement site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
  • Comply with regulatory requirements pertaining to the data integrity, documentation, procedures, training, monitoring systems, and record compliance and retention.
  • Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
