Dr. Miranda Orr is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Research Lab Manager to oversee the scientific operations of the Bruker Spatial Biology Center of Excellence within their laboratory. The Orr Lab utilizes cutting-edge spatial biology platforms to investigate the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying brain aging and neurodegenerative diseases. This position offers a unique opportunity to provide operational leadership, manage high-throughput spatial workflows, coordinate interdisciplinary research initiatives, and contribute to the advancement of novel technologies. The Senior Research Lab Manager will work closely with Dr. Orr and play a key role in driving the lab’s scientific mission while ensuring adherence to institutional policies and research best practices.Manages the overall laboratory and operating function to ensure the safe and highly effective operation of research in compliance with regulatory requirements and interaction with other laboratories, vendors and/or participants. Performs, oversees and coordinates complex research projects.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day operations of the Orr Lab and their associated Bruker Spatial Biology Center of Excellence.
Manage and maintain a suite of cutting-edge instrumentation, including Bruker CosMx SMI, CellScape, and GeoMx DSP platforms.
Manage the recharge center associated with the center of excellence and these instruments including rate setting, invoicing and quote generation.
Develop and implement protocols for spatial transcriptomics and proteomics workflows; train lab members and collaborators.
Coordinate research projects and collaborations involving the COE; serve as the primary technical and logistical point of contact.
Coordinate, facilitate, and implement interdisciplinary collaborations across university departments, schools, and external partners to advance research in brain aging.
Liaise with SILQ Center leadership and staff to support planning and reporting of progress.
Ensure compliance with institutional safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Monitor budgets, manage reagent and supply inventory, and assist with procurement and vendor relationships.
Support data management and analysis pipelines in collaboration with bioinformatics teams.
Contribute to manuscript and grant preparation by providing figures, methods, and technical expertise.
Mentor junior lab members and promote a collaborative, high-performance lab culture.
