About the role

Inside the Role

The HDT/Axle supervisor is responsible for championing the SQDCM (safety, quality, delivery, cost, and morale) metrics for a unionized production team. This role works closely with quality, maintenance, line engineers, scheduling, and logistics departments to successfully
manufacture transmissions and axles for the end customer.

Position offers a starting salary range of $95,000 – $121,000 USD

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.

**Position is for 3rd shift**

What You Drive at DTNA 

  • Supervise a unionized workforce in relation to personnel issues, job scope, discipline, reviews, hiring, etc.

  • Responsible for workforce planning considering planned production volumes and departmental efficiency targets.

  • Consistent KPI tracking.

  • Implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product while operating within

  • assigned budget.

  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency and quality, Drive improvements in departmental KPI's.

  • Support and ensure change point activities in alignment with global counterparts.

  • Monitor, supervise and revise processes in case of deviation to the planned status.

  • Interpret company policy to workers and enforce safety and environmental regulations while complying with terms of contractual labor agreement.

  • Maintains time and production records including employee documentation.

  • Prepares shift hand-over/end of shift reports.

  • Drive lean concepts & continuous improvement (TOS+) in all areas of responsibility.

  • Close interaction with the Scheduling team to coordinate builds to meet customer demand.

  • Create and maintain tactical implementation plans (TIPS) to monitor completion of projects.

  • Ensure safe and clean work areas.

Leadership:

  • Coach and mentor the daily activities of direct reports

  • Support and facilitate a safe and ethical working environment and culture

  • Coach, motivate, and develop team members to higher levels of performance

  • Clarify expectations, regularly communicate, provide ongoing performance feedback, and counsel assigned employees

  • Track and monitor shift, team, and individual employee performance

  • Utilize assigned team leader(s) in Lean Principles to promote and develop a continuous improvement culture

  • Effectively support and follow all policies outlined in the contract, handbook, and/or policy guide

Knowledge You Should Bring 

  • BS/BA and 4 years of relevant experience or 6+ years relevant experience in lieu of a degree

  • Knowledge of or ability to apply Lean/Continuous improvement tools and principles

  • Prior experience leading teams or projects to achieve elevated levels of performance and engagement in a manufacturing or logistics setting is required

  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to use tact and diplomacy to exchange information, handle sensitive issues, and translate, simplify, and clarify information for employees is required

  • Ability to communicate and make recommendations to upper management with effective oral and written communication skill.

  • Must be willing and able to complete all required Supervisor training and apply learnings.

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

  • Experience in an automotive manufacturing environment
