JOB SUMMARY
Works under direct supervision of the Lead/Supervisor Customer Service and the Patient Accounts Manager, and follows written policies and procedures to perform the specified job duties: Communicates both verbally and written with internal and external customers; Interprets and follows instructions, policies, guidelines and standards; Answers and resolves issues presented by patients/guarantors, agencies, third party payers and HMC associates; Assists with billing, payment posting, and other reimbursement issues; Explains and advises patients/guarantors on financial responsibility options; Establishes payment agreements; Initiates financial assistance applications for management approval and adjustments; Performs additional duties as assigned by Superiors.
Qualifications
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent. College level courses preferred.
Licensure: Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) Certification or HFMA Certified Patient Account Representative (CPAR) preferred.
Experience: 1 to 2 years’ experience in hospital billing/collections or customer service required. 2-4 years’ experience in hospital or medical setting providing billing/collections or customer service preferred.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Office environment with constant exposure to the public. Good health, ability to work under pressure with constant interruptions. Long hours sitting, some lifting and walking. Requires analytical skills such as problem analysis. Very stressful, constantly receiving requests or complaints from patients. Must be able to remain calm and polite while analyzing detailed information and taking appropriate action.
