The APP - NP or PA, will play a key role in caring for children and adolescents admitted to the inpatient psychiatric unit and supporting patients on medical units with behavioral health needs. This position emphasizes team-based care, working closely with psychiatrists, therapists, nurses, counselors, and support staff to ensure holistic treatment.

Major Responsibilities:

• Assess, diagnose, and manage treatment plans for pediatric patients with psychiatric conditions.
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic studies; prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.
• Provide health promotion, disease prevention, and counseling for patients and families.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members; escalate care when necessary.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record and ensure compliant coding and billing.
• Facilitate clear communication among all members of the healthcare team and community agencies.
• Perform hospital-based procedures within granted privileges and competency.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Participate in family therapy sessions and care conferences.
• Engage in quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives.
• Support onboarding and education of new team members and students.
• Maintain clinical proficiency and professional development.
• Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles for pediatric populations.

Licensure/Certification:

• Active RN and APRN/APRN-FPA/APNP or PA license in state of practice
• National board certification in clinical area and population served
• DEA registration and Illinois Controlled Substance License (prior to hire)
• BLS and PALS certification (within 6 months of hire)

Education: Master’s Degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies

Experience: Experience in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong clinical decision-making and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
• Proficiency with electronic medical records
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and twist throughout the day
• Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist; 20 lbs overhead; carry up to 40 lbs
• Functional speech, vision, touch, and hearing
