GENERAL SUMMARY:
Saginaw Public Schools Play to Learn Leader is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and facilitating all Birth - Five events, providing developmentally appropriate activities to work on all domains of learning, assisting with data collection, recruiting families, working on school readiness with students, coordinating transportation and screening the development of children to make appropriate referrals when needed and assisting in the evaluation of events.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of parent/guardian rights including confidentiality and consent
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local (school district) statues/policies pertaining to education and family counseling/assistance
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Excellent computer skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Proficient data entry skills
- Ability to pay attention to detail
- Ability to organize, multi-task, and plan to meet deadlines
10. Ability to analyze data and provide recommendations

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluate the following events:
a. Weekly parent and child playgroups for preschoolers, toddlers and infants
b. Family Fun Nights (Large group events for Birth-Five families)
c. Field trips in the community
- Strive to form social interaction between the families and support the bonding between parent and child
- Modify programs as needed
- Maintain a caseload of families
a. Caseload requires weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly home visits depending on needs of the family
b. Provide developmentally appropriate activities to work on all domains of learning
c. Screen development and recruit families for Saginaw Public Schools
d. Work with families on parenting skills, nutrition, self-help skills and academics
e. Coordinate services for families in need of community agencies
f. Track the development of children using Ages/Stages
- Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education/Development, Social Work, Elementary Education or related field required
- Parents As Teachers certification preferred
- Experience working with children ages birth thru five and successful experience working with parents/adults
- Previous experience working in a culturally diverse setting
