About Girls on the Run Long Island:
Girls on the Run is a transformational learning program for girls ages 8–13. Through dynamic, conversation-based lessons that incorporate movement and running, participants build life skills, confidence, and emotional resilience.

The program culminates in a celebratory 5K event, where girls demonstrate their physical and emotional growth. Our mission is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while fostering a lifelong appreciation for health and fitness.
 
Position Summary:
Location: Girls on the Run Long Island, Eisenhower Park, East Meadow (Hybrid)
Schedule: Part-time, 6 hours per week for 12 weeks (Summer, 2026)

The Social Media Marketing Intern will collaborate with the Girls on the Run Long Island team to support marketing, communications, and community outreach efforts. This role is ideal for a creative, organized, and mission-driven individual who is passionate about social media and youth empowerment. Must reside on Long Island and be able to travel to our office and occasional events. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in building and maintaining a long-term social media strategy and marketing calendar 
  • Develop innovative ideas to increase engagement and grow followers 
  • Engage with the local community through social media interaction 
  • Coordinate and execute promotions for events, announcements, and program updates 
  • Track social media analytics and present performance reports and recommendations to the Executive 
  • Director and Social Media & Outreach Coordinator 
  • Assist in tabling events on Long Island which may require evening and/or weekend hours 
  • Support additional marketing and outreach projects as needed 

Qualifications

  • Excellent research, writing, and organizational skills 
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team  
  • Effective time management skills 
  • Fluency across major social media platforms 
  • Experience with Canva and photo editing (preferred) 
  • Passion for and belief in the mission of Girls on the Run
