As a Geotechnical Assistant Project Manager, you will perform technical assignments under the coaching of mid-to-senior level geotechnical engineers. You will perform a variety of tasks, which should develop knowledge and abilities required to apply standard techniques, procedures and criteria, and which also provide experience and familiarization with the staff, methods, practices and programs of the company. Typical duties and responsibilities may include but not be limited to analyses of work according to standard geotechnical procedures on simple projects or on parts of more complex projects, review of data furnished by lab or field staff, and for correctness of own data. The Geotechnical Assistant Project Manager will write reports on routine projects with senior review by licensed PE.

Job Responsibilities:
- Travel to various job sites in a company provided vehicle
- Staff engineering duties including data reduction, analysis & fieldwork for commercial and residential projects
- Assisting with project management, reporting, and proposal writing
- Field inspection of geotechnical sites, sampling & testing of soils, concrete, masonry, reinforcing steel, etc.
- Assist with the preparation of geotechnical reports and prepare final reports for review
- Client consultation and maintenance
- Site reconnaissance, laying out borings, one-call tickets, preparation of field instructions
- Visual classification of soils and preparation of boring logs
- Performing hand auger borings with dynamic cone penetrometer testing
- Assisting with double-ring infiltration tests and ReMi testing
- Assist other geotechnical professionals as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications (Required unless otherwise noted):
- Associates Degree and 2 years prior Geotechnical experience
- Preferred: 4-year Bachelor’s Degree with EIT/GIT certification
- 1-4 years of relevant field experience and/or office geotechnical engineering experience
- Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word, with the ability to learn commercial software applications
- Ability to prioritize tasks and organize data
- Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in written form
- Ability to accurately apply mathematical principles, display proper use of spatial recognition, define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Project Managers and if needed, clients, potential customers and the general public
- Ability to read and interpret ASTM standards
- Ability to accurately complete field paperwork as prescribed
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other engineering design software
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
- Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions such as wet and/or humid environments, extreme cold and/or heat, dusty and noisy work environments
- Field work on outside construction sites involving long-term standing, sitting and repetitive motions
- Typically at least 50% field work and 50% office work, depending on the week/work
- Ability to use your senses to see (including close, distant and peripheral vision, depth vision and ability to focus), smell, hear and touch (use your hands to reach, climb or balance, crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit)
- Some weekend and overtime work and/or overnight work and travel may be required. You may be required to drive hundreds of miles per day
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move/shake up to 40lbs (soil and/or concrete tests and related apparatus); frequently lift and/or move up to 60lbs (soil and sand samples, and nuclear density equipment); and occasionally move more than 100lbs. (such as a loaded wheelbarrow of concrete samples)
