Summary:

The FM Global Finance team, predominantly based in Johnston, RI, has global responsibility for timely and accurate financial reporting, financial planning and analysis, tax compliance and reporting, treasury operations, internal audit, and risk management.

 

Schedule & Location:

The Finance internship position is full-time and is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. This is an on-site position located at our Corporate Headquarters in Johnston, RI. The start date will be on May 20th and will run until August 23rd. There is also an opportunity to work with the investment and real estate accounting departments for two weeks in Waltham, MA.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

• This role will provide experience that will prepare you for a full-time position in finance by providing you with real life experience in the following areas:
• Financial Planning and Analysis:
  • Budgeting and forecasting for a global insurance organization
  • Financial analysis for worldwide operations
• Treasury Operations:
  • Global accounts receivable, collections and cash management policies and procedures
• Risk Management
  • Assessment and mitigation of risk for a global organization
• Finance Transformation
  • Processes associated with new system implementations
• Investment and real estate accounting
  • Accounting for a large investment portfolio
  • Implementation of a new investment accounting system
• Assist in other duties as deemed appropriate by your manager

Qualifications

Required Education:

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• Rising senior student (will complete junior year prior to start of summer internship)
• GPA of 3.3 or higher

 

Highly Preferred Work Experience:

• Internship work experience or consistent work experience in a team environment

 

Required Skills:

• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Customer focused
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office

 

Highly Preferred Skills:

• Proficiency with PeopleSoft
• Experience with business analytics and financial statement analysis
