DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
At the direction of, and in support of, the Executive Director of Public Safety and Emergency Management, the Assistant Director will:
Develop programs to promote a safe, secure, and service-oriented campus environment for students, faculty, staff, alumni and visitors to the College;
Works in close collaboration to supplement the existing work and scope of the Campus Safety department of The Claremont Colleges;
Conduct investigations into incidents including conducting interviews, reviewing video surveillance materials, researching background information, and keeping detailed investigative records;
Work closely with the Dean of Students Office with incidents involving potential code of conduct violations;
Serve as a major liaison with CMC students and a visible and present ambassador on campus;
Assist the Executive Director with managing the shift schedules of the Public Safety Officers;
Serves as a team trainer for the Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management, assisting in new officer training and for the broader community, providing training to Resident Assistants, Building Safety Coordinators and other CMC and TCCS affiliates;
Assists in event planning, to include pre-event setup, assistance during planned and unplanned events and post incident debriefs and after-action reports;
Acts as a liaison with third party security entities and management teams to ensure efficiency, requisite support is provided and compliance in all contractual obligations;
Act as a liaison with the local police department, fire department, and other local officials to address matters of mutual concern;
Help to report, update, and organize daily and annual reports such as, but not limited to, Fire Safety Logs, Daily Security Reports, and Clery Reporting;
Maintain an environment that supports and promotes a socially responsible community;
Maintain leadership, tact, diplomacy, professionalism, and a positive demeanor in all performance responsibilities;
Assist with the management of the parking program;
Meets regularly/as needed with members of The Claremont Colleges Campus Safety department to build and maintain a positive and effective working relationship.
Collaborates with various departments, external stakeholders and first responders, in the intelligence gathering and security planning of unplanned and planned campus events;
Serve as incident management or other appropriate role assigned by the Executive Director in emergency situations;
Reviews all campus incidents. Directs necessary investigations and follow up activities in order to resolve complaints and/or address violations of law or policy; Prepares incident reports in timely manner;
On-campus availability and high visibility during routine work hours, evenings, weekends, special events, and holidays, as necessary, to fulfill position requirements
Regular attendance is considered an essential job function; the inability to meet attendance requirements may preclude the employee from retaining employment.
