Job Summary

The Senior Communications Manager requires excellent writing skills, marketing knowledge, strategic thinking, project management ability, relationship building skills, minor page design skills and a laser focus on the overall goal of developing effective business tools.

 

Responsibilities:
 

  • Develop an effective program launch package to help compel current members to participate in new or expanded programs and to support Compass operators’ understanding of programs.
  • For major initiatives, develop and execute communications plans that include program and product overviews, flyers, talking points, presentations, webinars and other business documents.
  • Work closely with all stakeholders who provide input and all stakeholders who use the output to ensure accuracy and effectiveness of all communications efforts.
  • Maintain quarterly marketing communication plans, noting current and upcoming promotions.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Communications to manage the content of the website, and to ensure well-coordinated and consistent messaging.
  • Develop and execute communications plans for special projects, as assigned.
  • Support special event planning for members and suppliers, as assigned, which may include trade shows, food shows, vendor summits, etc.
  • Help the Communications Team employ ever-more innovative approaches to message formats and delivery methods, including social media, website management, and other technologies as they become available.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience 
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience writing and developing creative communications in a business setting
  • Strong writing skills with an ability to write in various styles and voices
  • Ability to manage all aspects of editorial input to sort out the perfect balance of information the target audience needs to share
  • Ability to include all stakeholders in content development and editorial processes
  • Ability to engage with other Communications Team members to produce fresh, creative approaches to all content
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • Strong verbal and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a project-driven environment
  • Demonstrated intermediate-level page layout skills in Word, Publisher and/or InDesign
  • Serious candidates will be asked to provide samples of their previous work
