Position Overview
The Associate Academic Advisor welcomes new students to the University and creates a pleasant, supportive environment. They assist in delivering presentations, evaluating transfer work, and advising students on course selections and available campus resources.

Bachelor's Degree
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong presentation skills; strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to learn and use a variety of simple to complex computer applications.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations verbally and in writing.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
- Masters degree in student affairs or related field.
- Undergraduate degree and 3 plus years of experience working with students in an advising capacity.
Job Duties:
- Prepares, updates and checks degree audits, prioritizing VA, ROTC, Financial Aid and other exceptional degree audits. Makes changes in degree audits when discrepancies or substitutions occur.
- Advises students regarding degree requirements, academic issues, and evaluates progress to graduation.
- Advises students in selecting courses for future terms and using Advising Record and documents advising related work in Salesforce.
- Corresponds with students concerning questions about degree requirements, transfer hours, etc., via various forms of communication. Assists students with exploring other degree options or majors.
- Provides appropriate referrals to online and campus resources for students as well as information and answers to questions from prospective students and parents.
- Works at both Transfer and Freshman Orientation sessions by advising students at departmental advising sessions and conducting orientation presentations as needed.
