This position will support the Experian Consumer Services - a passionate and innovative team with a mission to provide Financial Power to All™. Our portfolio offers consumers credit education and identity protection solutions and helps businesses manage the impact of a data breach.

What you’ll be doing

The DevOps Senior Staff Engineer is a hands-on technical position responsible for architecting, designing, and implementing enhancements, extensions, and improvements to our “Platform as a Service” solution in a cloud-computing environment. Based on a “developer self-service model”, our Platform automates:

  • AWS resource provisioning and management (based on immutable compute resources)
  • Build pipeline supporting Continuous Delivery, including support for canary and blue green releases
  • Container based delivery (Docker)
  • Micro-service support (service registry, service-to-service authentication)
  • Instrumentation, monitoring, notification, and alerting
  • Data pipeline from transaction support (Dynamo) to BI (RedShift)

The current platform has been implemented using “Infrastructure as code” concepts, so experience with Python, or equivalent deep experience with other scripting or infra-coding tools is essential. The Platform is being managed as a true software product (story backlog, product roadmap, developer involvement in product direction), so Agile Product Oriented Development experience is also important.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to identify platform needs and issues
  • Define infrastructure and build pipeline architectures in collaboration with Product Architects and the DevOps engineering team
  • Author Agile stories, estimate story points, assist with sprint planning and retrospectives
  • Architect, design and build platform support for resource provisioning and build pipeline in AWS
  • Architect, design and deploy cloud platform capabilities using AWS (full stack – network, load balancing, DNS, security, databases, compute, and a range of managed services)
  • Architect and create monitoring and alerting capabilities
  • Architect and implement infrastructure capabilities in an automated cloud world – such as backups, security tools, IAM, monitoring, etc.
  • Perform advanced technical troubleshooting for cloud and e-commerce environments
  • Manage disaster recovery (multi-region), backup/BCP, and multi-cloud strategies for the platform

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • 10+ years’ experience in an infrastructure role, focused on building pipeline or infrastructure management with at least 5 years supporting Dev Ops concepts
  • Production experience with public cloud (AWS, Google or Azure – AWS strongly preferred)
  • Fluency in Python or other programming or scripting language
  • Proficiency in software and systems design and architecture
  • Experience with a variety of open-source technologies and tools in support of cross-team collaboration
  • Bachelor of Science or comparable experience
