Job Summary:
The Pratt & Whitney Oklahoma City Heavy Maintenance Center (HMC) Process Improvement Engineer (PIE) will provide process improvements and master work instruction oversight to facilitate disassembly, repair, assembly, and testing of gas-turbine engines at the maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO) facility in support of production delivery schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and provide interpretation of technical data as necessary to support production
- Participate in teams reviewing and investigating process breakdowns; perform root cause and corrective action on parts and processes that are not in control.
- Oversee corrective actions that result from tech data changes.
- Create and maintain master work control documents and work instructions for new parts and assemblies, as well as modifications to existing products.
- Perform six-sigma and lean engineering analyses via process walks to improve product/process development and sustain production.
- Benchmark off best-in-class organizations
- Generate maintenance awareness briefs to reduce errors in the maintenance process.
- Utilize robust standard work and desktop procedures for HMC PIE processes.
- Perform any other related functions or support other MRO production lines as required by management to ensure the success of the enterprise.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited college/university w/minimum 5+ years of experience OR advanced degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited college/university w/minimum 3+ years of experience.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship.
- Ability to work 1st shift (0700-1600), as well as extra time as necessary to ensure completion of assigned tasks; may be called in off-hours to answer job-related questions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint, and Visio, strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Ability to write concise, easy-to-understand technical work instructions.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once, while keeping up with daily tasks.
- Experience with continuous process improvement.
- Experience with enterprise resource planning systems such as SAP.
- Operational experience in an MRO engine facility.
- Process or manufacturing experience on gas-turbine engines.
- Demonstrated commitment to Environmental, Health, and Safety regulations, policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams on a wide variety of tasks and with limited supervision.
