Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Assistant Director - Jupiter, FL

Reporting through the Department of Campus Recreation, the Jupiter Campus Recreation Assistant Director assists with the development and implementation of a comprehensive recreational experience. Serving the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College students residing on the FAU’s Jupiter Campus the position promotes an inclusive campus environment and builds a more engaged campus community through recreational programs and services. With assistance from Campus Recreation professionals on the Boca Raton campus specific duties include:

Facility Operations

  • Primary responsibilities will include the daily management, scheduling, maintenance, budget and repair of Jupiter’s Recreation and Fitness Center, outdoor fields, outdoor basketball court, volleyball court, tennis court and pool.

  • Assist in ensuring field and facility rentals are consistent with University and state guidelines.

  • Oversee formal user agreements and facility scheduling by both internal and external groups.

  • Ensure all facilities operate within required risk management procedures and oversee the implementation of standardized safety practices.

  • Work with the department’s leadership team to ensure accurate records for general maintenance, replacement and repairs for all facilities are kept.

  • Provide support and input with regard to custodial services contract and develop and maintain schedules for daily/weekly/annual facility cleaning.

Miscellaneous

  • Assist in the preparation of the department’s budget Assist with marketing efforts for Northern Campuses including social media (Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook).

  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Assessment

  • Assist with development of departmental strategic plan and annual assessment materials.

  • Assist with preparing monthly and annual reports.

Staff Development and Supervision

  • Manage the hiring, training, scheduling and supervision of student staff.

  • Provide support and oversee the development of 4-6 Lifeguards, 3 Student Staff managers, 5 intramural officials, 5-8 Operations Assistants.

Programming and Collaborations

  • Assist the Assistant Director of Sport Clubs and Intramurals to expand existing intramural sport offerings.

  • Assist Assistant Director, Fitness & Wellness with scheduling fitness programs and events on Northern Campuses (Jupiter and Harbor Branch).

  • Assist the Assistant Director, Outdoor Adventures with off-site trip programming.

  • Develop special event programming.

  • Develop programming for aquatics.

  • Attend meetings with other Campus Recreation stakeholders, including but not limited to Campus Life, Housing, Student Government, and others.

  • Attend Jupiter Campus and University wide signature events.

  • Serve on Jupiter Campus committees for programming and events.

  • Assist in the facilitation of operations and programming at the Boca Raton campus as needed

Member Services:

  • Assist the Assistant Director, Membership & Student Development with managing membership operations including reconciliation process for credit/debit card sales, journal entries, payroll deduction, and installment billing process.

  • Ensure quality customer service to all Campus Recreation stakeholders.

  • Other job-related duties as assigned.
